We hope you'll get a better understanding after reading the following and after examining the (coming soon) examples below (of some Hampton's beachfront properties).
The photographic 'film' ('negative') of last century was replaced by a digital sensor. This sensor, rectangular in shape, is made of millions of light sensitive critters called Pixels. The larger the sensor and the number of pixels, the better [and larger print output] can be produced by that digital camera. (similar to the effect of a larger and more sensitive film of yesteryears).
Prints sizes and height-to-width ratios. Prints' papers come in many sizes and a few different 'ratios'. Below are the common ratios and sizes. The proportion (height to width) of most sensors in digital cameras is 2:3, 'very' rectangular; so, if you don't want your print to include your left and/or right neighbors, just choose a more square ratio (from the third line below, or even a complete square). Prints' sizes are in inches.
After you select the quantities and sizes of items in your shopping cart, you will have a crop preview with four Zoom & Crop options from which to view and choose:
1. "Pan left/up"
2. "Center" (default)
3. "Pan right/down"
4. "White borders" (no cropping)
Center crop works fine for most images but some images contain critical subject matter that would be cropped off of both sides if “center” crop were selected (e.g., some 8x10 prints). To preserve the integrity of such images, they must be printed using the white borders (no crop) option.
Note: If the image's proportions are similar to the standard-sized print, Zoom & Crop choices will have little or no effect
What technology do you use to print photographs?
Our online lab affiliate uses digital printers with the highest quality silver halide chemical process as used by regular photo finishers. This is direct digital continuous tone printing, which produces stunning photographic prints far superior to ink-jets or dye sublimation printers.
What type of paper is used for printing?
The photographs are printed on real photo paper. In addition to the superior photo quality output, the real photo paper is durable and resistant to fading. Just like regular film-based photographs, you can select matte, glossy, or pro lustre finish.
